Adventures in Potty Training

This week Elinor learned to use the toilet! Warning, I will be using potty language. It wasn't as hard as I expected. I was worried that I missed the right timing to do this. She seemed very interested in the potty a couple of months ago. That is when we started working on learning potty terminology. =) I'm glad I did that because she calls both pee and poo the same, poo-poo! Can't wait until she has to go in the middle of church.
So we started off Monday morning in with a fit. How dare mommy not put a diaper on that little bum. I finally got the training pants on her and calmed her down, after about 10 minutes. I was going to do the whole run around butt naked thing, but little Miss E. had a different idea. So I just went with the flow. We set the timer for 15 minutes and then I sat her on her little potty chair. This was not her idea of fun. I had to give her a sticker to put on a piece of paper, just for sitting on the potty. She loved the stars!

I almost gave up. A few accidents and wet training pants were nothing. I just didn't like the rush to get her to the potty, and keeping the twins out of the puddle. I'm really glad she had the panties on, just a little less to clean up. M&M's are my friend. Anytime she did anything in the potty she would get 2 for pee and 4 for poop. We also did the pee-pee dance. She really likes to dance and turn in circles. By Wednesday, she was going to the bathroom whenever she needed. We only had two underwear changes! Thursday and Friday were awesome! I'm so glad I did this. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. She has really caught onto the concept. Now to teach her that she isn't going to fall into the big toilet when she sits on it.

January 2013- Elinor

Elinor is now 19 months old and growing quick!
If anyone has fun being a big sister, Elinor is the one.
She is the biggest helper that I could ask for.

No one is without their paci. She will help calm anyone who is crying by patting them. She puts their blanket on them and attempts to tuck it in on the sides like Mommy and Daddy do. Elinor also likes to hold the babies and help burp them.

Elinor takes advantage of going outside whenever it is nice.

And yes, she is planking in the garden.

When Scrappy returned after her disappearing act, to Elinor, it was as if she had never left.

She loves to hang upside down.(with Aunt Alice)

January 2013-Simon

I am going to take the time now to write
about each child in their own post.

Simon Peter Demaree joined us on September 21, 2012 at 7:40pm.
He had a rough start to life. He was in the NICU for 2 days due to trouble transitioning (problems breathing on his own). But he pulled through. We were able to take both cuties home on Sept 24.

He is now a talkative little creature. Sometimes I wonder if his high pitched little screams are a cry, but nope, just him talking.

He has a cute little smile like his fathers. And many other cute faces!

January 2013- Naomi

Naomi Elizabeth Demaree joined us at 7:24pm on September 21,2012.
She has graced us with happy giggles when everyone else is crying. She LOVES to laugh. Naomi loves watching Elinor. She laughs when Elinor tickles her chin.

Today- Just in ONE day

If I don't write this now, I know I will forget. Yes, I know things are only starting to get crazy. Today I would say that Elinor had a to-do list that was to be completed before 2pm.

First, learn how to get on the couch. SUCCESS! Yikes! now I really have to watch her. Our couch has a low back with pillows in front. Let's just say that I have had to capture her a few times before today.
Second, forget that thing called a nap. That just didn't happen like normal.
Third, dog food. Child tested. She had a handful just waiting to enter. I guess she approved.
Forth, dumping dog food onto floor while Scrappy is trying to eat out of the bowl. What a patient dog.
Fifth, touching outside of oven while VERY hot. I think she caught on to the saying, "That is hot!"
Sixth, dumping Scrappy's water all over the floor. Didn't get her though.

I think that is all up until 2pm. What a busy morning!
Watching Scrappy eat.

Biggest zucchini from the garden, more than a foot long!

Eating some broccoli.

(From a couple of weeks ago) Chasing Scrappy.
